Cary Brown and O.M.S. (Organic Music Synthesis) is a funky jazz and rock infused jam band that features all the dynamic improvised groove qualities of the best jam bands combined with the musical versatility and precision of three seasoned veterans of the NYC area jazz scene. Cary Brown, multi-keyboardist/producer/composer toured internationally throughout the 90s with Jamaican ska pioneers The Skatalites and the NYC based group The New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble. He has also performed and/or recorded with jazz legend John Scofield, Sloan Wainwright, and Rufus Wainwright and has performed at many of the best jazz venues in the NY area including Small’s, The 55 Bar, The Iridium, The Cutting Room, Rockwood Music Hall, and BB King’s. Jimmy Cliff was a legendary Jamaican musician and a global spokesperson for peace, love, equality and social justice. He was a cultural force in the spreading of reggae music. Chuck Leavell had the good fortune to share the stage with the reggae pioneer at the LOCKN’ Festival in 2015 where they performed together with Widespread Panic. IROCKU Piano Student, Dylan James, performs at Lincoln Center “Essentially Ellington” Festival
Dylan James has been an IROCKU member since he was 13. Along with the IROCKU video lessons Dylan James has been taking live lessons with IROCKU instructors Bruce Katz, Eric "Scorch" Scortia, Peter Keys and even Chuck. Over the years we've seen Dylan James progress from a talented young piano player into a seasoned pianist who can play anything from blues to boogie woogie to jazz. Everyone at IROCKU is extremely proud and blessed to be a part of Dylan James' piano education. Earlier this year, Dylan James performed at the "Essentially Ellington" High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival. Here's a small clip from one of his performances.
